It doesn't matter who tags Omen — anyone with the quest can obtain quest credit by stepping into Omen's pillar of light after he is dead. This does not always work properly — if you have the quest, step into the light, and get the buff without getting quest credit, try stepping out, dismissing the buff, and stepping into the light a second time.
A group that cannot adequately tank Omen may be able to beat him by constantly kiting him around; as long as you are moving you will not take much damage from [ Starfall ] , and Omen has no other attack outside of melee range.
Hunters are good for this, since they can use [ Aspect of the Cheetah ] to keep away from him while still dealing substantial ranged damage. Other DPS classes must be careful not to get above the threat level of the kiter, or Omen will run to them and quickly slay them.
Because Omen does not reset health, even if you wipe you can set up again and repeat until he is downed. Omen will leash if taken too far from his spawn point, so keep this in mind when attempting to kite him. A paladin could conceivably work, though the cooldown on Holy Shock is prohibitive, and you may as well keep looking before using a shaman healer.
It is possible for warlocks, balance druids, and possibly other classes, to solo Omen. Plan on spending 30 minutes kiting him without help. There is a very large tree, south along the road, near the cluster launchers where he spawns.
Cast all DoTs on Omen and run him tightly around the tree. Healthstones, healing potions, and a run speed enchant will help significantly. You will be taking damage from Lifetap and occasional Starfall spells, so if you have neither [ Siphon Life ] nor [ Fel Stamina ] it is unlikely you will succeed in killing him without help.
It is also possible to kite him around Nighthaven as a hunter using a combination of [ Aspect of the Viper ] and [ Aspect of the Cheetah ] , and damage over time through traps, stings and pausing to shoot at Omen. One must run in a circular pattern around Nighthaven through the inn and over the bridge, and around again, all the while doing this. It takes a massive amount of time, but is possible. Nearby players are likely to help, as do all guards that Omen passes, though these die fairly quickly.
Omen has now been buffed to 5. Omen is also now leashed to his summoning grounds. He can no longer be kited to Nighthaven. Max distance toward Nighthaven is the second bridge from the summoning grounds.
Balance druids can solo Omen with relative ease so long as their mana regeneration is sufficient to maintain a very long, pitched fight. As with the strategy above, pull Omen to the large tree to the south of his spawn point just north of the Great Cat Spirit.
It's good they offer quests to people who have already completed it. Had a few dps and a druid throwing hots, but could have solo'd it.
Easy boss. Comment by Really a shame he counts as a demon. Would have been awsum if I could have tamed him to my hunter. Comment by Today I saw 1 tank, 1 heals, and 1 dps down this guy. The tank was decently geared, and the others were so so. Comment by weezel Got there this morning to check out the area, and suddenly thought to myself "what if? Had it not been for the Warlock and Death Knight that showed up, after two hours both horde - also needed the quest , I'd have soloed him.
As a prot paladin, this is definitely solo able with decent gear. Comment by joeracke Yea he's pretty easy. Just did it in 5man group me tanking as bear in mostly heroic ToC25 gear had a priest healing, boomkin, DK, and a cat. Took a while bout min of fighting and priest needed to bum an innerv from the kitty druid but overall he was pretty easy.
Comment by Onoxia Did this with 80 Ret pala 80 Ret pala 80 Ele shaman 80 resto druid 80 prot warrior me Was fairly easy , hits for like 3. Comment by I just 3 manned him with: 80 Warrior Tank me 80 Shaman 80 Tree Druid It took about 15 minutes, but was a fun fight, didn't die and only had to spend 1.
Comment by This is, by far, the least appealing achievement in all of the year's World Events. There is no loot, and all you have to do is be nearby when someone else drops him.
At least when you could kite him to nearby cities, there was reason for people to be there after the first day. Now, it is impossible to get a group together. Comment by Providence Just 2-manned this guy with the setup; Retpaladin and Protection paladin. Comment by Just downed him righ now with. Really easy, but an hell of a boring fight!
Have your healer walk up on the fountain and run around with you or just stay stationary and cast one heal each time you pass him by The heals are just because it's very hard if not impossible to avoid the aoe damage. But as said, a moving hunter with no buffs or anything vs 5,8 Million HP, it takes a couple of hours. It's a cool thing to do though and a real trophy for a hunter!
Good ol' nessingwary would be proud of you. Happy hunting! You could do it with far less gear though. Some tips for other enthusiastic death knights: Glyph of Disease for more Death Strikes.
Glyph of Death's Embrace coupled with Lichborne. You'll need to avoid at least some of the Starfalls. Try to use Anti-Magic Shell on cooldown while you run out of them. Other notes: Since omen can no longer be kited, you will receive no support besides the guards at the Stormrage Barrow Dens, however they will die within one to two ticks of Starfall and their deaths have a good chance to reward you with a decrease in reputation with Cenarion Circle.
Took 55 minutes. Only 3 people came to help during the course of the fight, and each of them died in the first few Starfalls, gave up and either left or sat there and waited for me to finish soloing him. Comment by Ntharlp Successfully three-manned Omen, today. I was healing as an 80 holy priest with an 80 survivalist hunter and an 80 destro lock.
Pet tank. It took us 10 minutes. Just remember to stay out of the little AOE he does and everyone should be all right! Comment by having just solo'd omen, im a little amped. Comment by When i was killing Omen we were 25ppl the highest lvl 65 also the tank and the lowest was 41 me and starfall is pretty dangerous for lvl its damage is between k it took us like min to kill him cant remember and as everyone say he is easy We didnt summon him So that you can actually do moar dmg standing and less kiting.
Also Cower is very useful, but that is obvious. Theres a good chance that Starfall'll hit u, bandages do the healing job. Comment by Just 2 manned with a prot warrior and a boomkin. Took 32 minutes. Comment by Just soloed as a feral druid. Kited him out of the starfall, used cooldowns back to back as they were available. Used frenzied regen and imp lotp for the majority of my healing.
I did have to shadowmeld twice to drop combat his health doesn't reset in order to heal myself. Took about an hour. Definitely better to bring a friend or two, but if you tend to put things off or play late like I do, it is manageable on your own depending on your class. Comment by HandofDeath this is the puppy of saurfang as you can see he has cleave. Comment by As of Cataclysm it is easy for a tank to solo this boss, without any need of kiting or anything else suggested above. I initially went in my dk unholy dps spec and was able to knock off 2 million health very quickly, but was unable to keep my health.
One thing to note, it took me about 20 firework clusters to summon him. Comment by StaticLgtBrngr Not updated for the new level cap for the version of the event, he is still equal to a wrath faction boss with 5.
Bit of a shame really as he can be soloed by many level 85 classes which takes the drama out of the situation. Here's hoping for a newer version of him next year that is more challenging. Comment by dawntilldusk Just solo'd him as an 85 Holy Paladin. Was fairly easy just took about 25 minutes. I found it interesting.. Comment by Nihlo does he give any justice or valor points now? Comment by Solo'able as a 85 DK tank. Comment by You can summon him here: Comment by SeerSarah If you're wanting to get the quest objective done on several characters, his body sticks around for about 4 minutes.
I got the quest completed on four different characters since I logged them all out in Moonglade before attempting to solo him with my shaman. Thanks to the two Horde players who helped, couldn't have done it without you! Comment by Sodomice I kinda soloed him today with my shadow priest with ilvl Very early in the morning so there wasn't anyone there to help me when I started the fight. What I did was popped Inner Will, applied dots, ran down the path until I was about 40 yards past the bridge, then he evaded.
I was actually trying to see how much dmg I could do before I died so I was releaved to see that he did. Being oom of spamming improved devouring plague, while watching over my shoulder Very surprised to see that he didn't regenerate unto full health so I rinsed and repeated that run for like 20 times. I was able to wash of a "stunning" K-ish hp's each run. Ah, and forgot to mention that I died twice in the process.
I know it sounds kinda noobish, but I had a lot of fun doing it :D. Comment by I managed to solo Omen as a level 85 Demo warlock. Comment by Aetra Did this today as a 85 Affliction warlock with an 85 Feral druid and 85 Marks hunter who's cat was the tank.
None of us had heroic gear, only took about 8 minutes. So much easier than years past. Comment by Solo'd him today on Feathermoon. Level 85 Belf MM Hunter and mah bear pet.
Not all that epically geared, An item score of - so it can be done at relatively lower gear levels. Starfall is really just annoying more than anything - constant moving is going to keep any caster from DPS'in too much - but aspect of the fox'd and it was fine. If you're not a tank, or don't have a tank built in - you'll want one. Tried this guy on my 85 Mage and got slaughtered.
Used 19 rocked clusters before he showed up - then set pet on him and ran around like a chicken with my head cut off. Happy Hunting! Katumar - Feathermoon US. Comment by Kactus04 Omen is tankable by a pet whether the pet can hold aggro may vary. My felguard was easy to keep alive myself, and the hunter I paired with kept their pet up easily enough.
Comment by deprecated7 Just solo'ed him as an 85 shadow priest. Fairly simple for any class that can do multiple DoT's. Run him back west, around the curve and up to the first bridge, reapplying DoT's as you go. With the less squishy of the pair tanking, the healer should be able to keep their partner or themselves alive simply using their most efficient healing rotation. In leather or better, Omen's damage - even if you're standing in his Starfall - is laughable in heroic blues, and should not be too difficult to work through if you're not too far behind.
You may be constrained by threat in the event that your healer is tanking. Working with a bona fide tank, of course, makes things substantially more straightforward, but such is not the purpose of my contribution today. Healers - The following is a run-down of mana-efficient, "maintenance" healing rotations which you may already be familiar with if you have a basic foundation of your class in a healing role.
The information provided below is intended as a guide for those who are less experienced. Holy Priest: You'll want to use your Heal Chakra. Inner Fire if tanking; use your choice of self-buff if your partner is.
As you do not have a taunt, your partner will have to exercise ample caution with regard to not pulling threat if you are doing the tanking. Discipline Priest: A well-geared Discipline priest may be able to sustainably utilize Smite to proc Atonement to heal their partner.
A viable alternative strategy is to lead using Power Word: Shield , filling in the gaps with Heal reducing the duration of the Weakened Soul debuff via Strength of Soul and Penance. Again, Inner Fire if tanking; otherwise, it's your choice. As with Holy Priests, your partner will be responsible for managing their own threat if you are tanking.
Clearcasting procs can be expended on Healing Touch , or Regrowth , followed by with Swiftmend , if the need is dire. A well-geared druid can utilise Tree of Life 's buff to Wrath to expedite the encounter. If you are tanking, switching into Bear Form to taunt is an effective means of allowing your partner more DPS time. If you are tanking, pick and choose - and don't be afraid to swap around - based on whether you're falling behind on healing or mana.
Healing Wave should be your go-to heal; Earth Shield and Riptide should adequately fill in the gaps. Earthliving is probably your strongest choice as a weapon imbue, though it may be prudent to keep a spare weapon imbued with Rockbiter if you are tanking - used in conjunction with Unleash Elements , it affords you a taunt to rescue an overenthusiastic partner.
Totems are your call - use them to cover your weaknesses, or accentuate your strengths, though I strongly suggest the use of Mana Spring Totem , unless you are not having issues conserving mana. Holy Paladin: Beacon your tank. Holy Shock can similarly be put to good use.
Use Seal of Insight , and judge on cooldown. Righteous Fury is an invaluable asset if you are tanking; reckless DPS can be assisted with the use of Hand of Salvation , or bubbled while you allow yourself the time to taunt Even with very low DPS output, the encounter should take you no longer than 15 minutes. Omen will deal roughly k DPS on leather , which can be reduced by moving out of Starfall.
Good luck! Heroic gear should suffice for these purposes. Comment by kidkonsequence I just kited him around the ruins as an 85 Fire Mage.
Took 2 time warps, plenty of mana shield, and Firestarter talent. Easily solo'able for kiting classes. Fortunately the pillars around there don't seem to block LoS, so there is really no need to do anything more than run in circles.
Comment by I went to do this on my mage and found a pally already attacking him. I tried to help and ended up aggroing Omen. The pally invited me to a group and I joined. He healed and kept me up pretty easily, even dpsed, and I tanked him. There was a boomy trying to help us so we invited her too.
It took about 7 minutes to kill him. So to those who are only have a clothie and a healer- it can be done easily! Comment by hi its an easy solo as a hunter just heal your pet. Comment by I was able to solo this as an 85 warlock, with one death. Luckily, if you die, his health doesn't reset. This guy has a LOT of health. I mean, millions and millions.
So it'll be a slow fight solo. My average ilevel is Because you can't just blast this guy down, you need to conserve your mana. This does not always work properly — if you have the quest, step into the light, and get the buff without getting quest credit, try stepping out, dismissing the buff, and stepping into the light a second time.

It seems to be easiest to circle the tree in a clockwise fashion. Use Insect Swarm and Moonfire as your primary sources of damage, reapplying them as soon as they wear off. You can also use Force of Nature and Starfall on every cooldown to supplement your damage, but try to drop Force of Nature immediately after Omen uses HIS Starfall, else your treants will likely die without doing any damage.
Kill this guy if you can because having a raid with your guild is fun. I have accepted it on my level 47 alt. If I remember correctly I have seen players in their low 40's participating in the quest. Comment by entropicdragon You don't have to participate in the raid that kills Omen in order to receive Elune's Blessing; all you have to do is stand on his corpse once he is dead, and you will receive the blessing. This works even if you are the opposite faction of the people who killed him.
Comment by Thottbot Comment by Thottbot just killed him:P both alliances and hordes were killing, it doesn't matter who's tagging him first, just stand near him when he dies and you'll complete the quest. Comment by Thottbot How many PG in raid? Comment by Thottbot can someone explain where to get this quest? Comment by Thottbot Just killed it on Bloodhoof with a man raid group, but quest didnt complete, tried standing on his body, in the light beam, pfff Comment by Thottbot how do you summon him!
Comment by Thottbot This guy is easy to summon. Here is what I did one-man to test him. He does a lot of damage with his AoE, but he is kinda slow, so I ran away. Btw, he is using arcane damage and is a demon. Satezz, 60 Hunter, Magtheridon Comment by Thottbot He bugged on me too. Took less than 10 minutes because of that. Comment by Thottbot What level do you have to be to do this quest? Anyone have any ideas? Comment by Thottbot Two days ago, we have a nice 40 man raid started and were ready to summon Omen's minions with the 'special fireworks launchers' near the Barrow Dens SW coast of Lake Elune'ara - the section missing from the thottbot map.
We shot off at least fourty with no sign of the minions. Eventually - ALL 40 left as no body could figure it out. Several of us did get large lag spikes while setting off the fireworks clusters. No minions, no Omen, no fun. So last night I decide to go back to Moonglade via the invitation through startlight.
I noticed there were minions all around. These demon dogs were regular L60s and not all that tough for a vetran L60 toon. These minions appear to respawn at a fast rate as I could solo two at a time, but would see that others would quickly re pop. So I started shooting off fireworks clusters and not less than 7 tries later, the big do two headed wolf appeared. The minions went away so I started recruiting to see if anybody was up for it. Thankfully they were. Eventually we had a nice group of 30 ready to go.
We had an MT and OT with def tanking skills at or over The main key is to hold aggro and let the MT build aggro on Omen. While this is going on the healers heal the crap out of the MT main tank. Once aggro is aquired, the other damage classes, ranged casters, etc.. Healers still need to heal - because if aggro is lost and the ranged DPS are still casting aggro'ing the BOSS dog will cut them down quickly and wipe the group.
