Sometimes a kind stranger will offer their seat, but this does not always happen. Worst-case scenario, my child awakes because of the change in positions and transforms from a Sleeping Beauty to a Disney Villain. Other times we have waited 40 minutes just for a bus to arrive only for it to be full and have to wait until the next bus! Get the picture? The buses can be a really unpleasant experience. The buses can be very inefficient. Usually, I would recommend leaving your hotel room at least an hour or hour and a half before you need to be anywhere on property.
Disney will say that buses arrive every 20 minutes. This is usually the case, but not always. During normal years, the bus can be very crowded. For this reason, you may be forced to stand and hold onto a metal bar to stabilize yourself. Though this may be seen as a minor problem to enjoy Disney World, remember you will be returning to your hotel after hours walking around a park and standing in lines.
If you have a child, the bus can be a miserable experience. The Disney magic can dissipate quickly during these times. Some resorts also have multiple bus stops within the resort making this a much longer process. When we last stayed at Caribbean Beach, they had 8 internal bus stops! By the time we got to the last bus stop, the bus was already full and people waiting at that last stop had to wait for the next bus.
There's also the recent opening of a new parking entrance to DHS, and the Magic Kingdom also has seen road improvements, as well, as Disney World looks to ease the flow of guests around the ever-popular resort.
I wonder if this means Disney will stop putting designs that advertise the latest Marvel movie on their buses. Probably not. These are great! My family has switched from Disney to Universal a few years ago.
It happened when Disney turned from magical to just a theme park. I couldn't justify the astronomical price anymore since the magic and innocence is long gone. The long white train — which made its Disney World debut in — takes parkgoers between Magic Kingdom and Epcot. Though I have fond memories of riding the monorail as a kid, I didn't have great experiences using it in August.
I first used it to travel to Epcot from Magic Kingdom. Though there was only a small group of people waiting when I arrived, the crowd quickly grew, and parkgoers who were eager to get out of the heat began cutting in front. It didn't help that the train eventually arrived with technical problems, leading the monorail to leave the station without any passengers. Not only did it take a long time to travel between the two theme parks as a result of technical issues that day , but I also felt pretty uncomfortable inside the train.
A lack of air conditioning made it feel stuffy, and being around so many people in an enclosed space made me nervous about COVID I'm fully vaccinated and wore two masks, but not everyone on the monorail kept their face coverings above their noses. After taking the monorail to Epcot and spending some time in the theme park, I decided to head back to Magic Kingdom via Disney World's water transportation.
There was a ferry waiting as I approached the dock, and it left shortly after I boarded. I spent the trip on the top deck, and loved how open and airy the ship was. I could stand far away from other parkgoers and simply enjoy the view. But if you'd like to travel to Magic Kingdom, Epcot, or Hollywood Studios by water transportation without stopping there, you'll have to be staying at a moderate or deluxe Disney World resort.
Disney World's Beach Club Resort and Wilderness Lodge hotels, for example, both have direct access to boats and can bring you from the resorts to some of those theme parks.
But if you're staying at a value hotel — like the All-Star Movies Resort where I stayed — you'd have to take a car, bus, or Skyliner to a theme park, then a monorail to one of those resorts or the Transportation and Ticket Center. While some route duplication does take place, the watercraft provide an alternative way to travel from one location to another.
The most notable of these boats are the large ferries that traverse the Seven Seas Lagoon between the Transportation and Ticket Center and the Magic Kingdom.
However, there are several other routes, including:. Disney Theme Parks Wiki Explore. Wiki Content. Explore Wikis Community Central.
