He does a great job of building anticipation, and when he comes out he does so with a bang. The first song is always a crowd favorite, a great way to start off the show. Hoodie does a fantastic job of playing a large array of his songs, so whether you like the old or the new you will be pleased. Apart from playing the music, Hoodie connects to the crowd in many ways. Hoodie makes sure to let the fans at the concerts know how important they are, and how much they mean to him.
If a little talking to the crowd was not good enough, Hoodie and his crew throw cake baked from fans into the crowd during his song "Cake Boy". The atmosphere is wild, especially when he floats through the crowd in an inflatable raft. Hoodie Allen's shows are a fun time, and unforgettable experiences. Hoodie Allen. It's prior to 24 hours after the show and I'm still on that concert high. His stage prescense is unforgettable and highly contagious. Tour after tour, his opening acts succeed in getting the crowd hyped.
The setlist was a fair share of the "new shit" and oldies. His introductions for songs are clever and makes it obvious when the crowd goes absolutely ape. The set was outstanding- lights, smoke, confetti, elevation; mad props to the team.
Watch out for airborne cake and bras. Not even to mention how reasonable the ticket prices are and the opportunities to meet him. A musician who truly cares about his fans and knows what's important. Keep on keepin' on. The show on December 7th, in Hamburg, Germany was awesome as expected. I already saw him live on the "People Keep Talking World Tour" and he always puts off a really good and entertaining show. He includes his fans in what's happening going into the crowd, talking, song requests etc.
The only thing that was a bit disappointing was that the show only lasted one hour ish. We expected it to be longer since the last show of his we were at was at least two hours long. Hoodie Allen is a natural performer and entertainer. He heavily involves the crowd during the show and his shows are also very intimate.
Also, they are crazy. From a flying cake to having water thrown at you, be ready for your clothes to get a little messy. Hoodie is a fantastic performer with great live presence and an excellent live voice. He continued with high school, went on to graduate from the University of Pennsylvania, from which he is a proud alum of as shown in his lyrics and after, managed to even land a job at Google.
Although having a great job, Allen still knew he wanted to pursue music and went to multiple meetings with record labels that ultimately never pulled through.
The Long Island-native decided to take a leap of faith and quit his job at Google, moving from San Francisco to Manhattan to pursue music full-time as an independent artist. Looking back, that decision definitely paid off — as he went from tech exec to a rap sensation. His unique mix of hip-hop, pop and a bit of pop punk in his music, with his clever and fun lyrics makes his sound something so special and nothing like any other rapper or musician now.
